Slate Flooring : Instructions for Use

  1. Make sure your floor surface is clean and dry, then lay your Slate Flooring out until you are happy with their position. If you wish to grout them in allow approx. 1mm for mortar joints. Apply PVA to the back of each piece, glue in place and allow to dry.
  2. To cut Real Slate score both sides of the slate with a craft knife and then snap between your fingers, or use tile pliers or a junior hacksaw (in this case a dust mask should be worn for protection).
  3. If you intend to grout your Slate Flooring in, mix equal parts PVA adhesive and water together and using a brush, paint this over your floor, allow to dry thoroughly. Your Slate Flooring is now ready for grouting.
  4. Instructions for grouting can be found on the packet of our Mortar/Grout mix. Please note. While other grouts can give satisfactory results some DO NOT. We therefore recommend the use of our Mortar/Grout to assure a reliable realistic finish.
